Who We Are
Women’s Shield Against Abuse (WSAA) stands for protecting survivors while helping them rebuild lives of independence, dignity, and strength.
We are built on six core pillars:
-
Safety: 24/7 protection in a secure, traumas-informed environment - a refuge when healing begins
-
Hope: We restore belief in hope, self-worth, and the power to start over.
-
Independence: Tools for financial and emotional self-sufficiency
-
Empowerment: Skill-building, counseling, and community
-
Leadership: Helping survivors lead their lives again
-
Dignity: Restoring self-worth and human rights
Why This Transitional Housing is Urgent
In South Carolina alone, hundreds of women — many with children — face unsafe, unstable living conditions every month, often with nowhere to turn. WSAA’s planned 50-room facility will offer 24-hour protection, trauma counseling, emergency medical care, and holistic family-centered services. It will be more than a temporary housing— it will be a critical lifeline for those escaping violence and beginning their journey toward healing and independence.
Without safe transitional housing, survivors are often forced back into dangerous environments. WSAA is stepping in to break that cycle — permanently.
